Official sources come first
Rules and rates are checked against primary sources such as ICBC and the Government of British Columbia. Reviewed pages identify their sources and show the date on which the material was last verified. If a summary on this site conflicts with an official bulletin, form, or current ICBC instruction, the official source prevails.
Calculators explain scenarios, not decisions
Calculator outputs are arithmetic estimates based on the values a visitor supplies. They are not tax advice, an appraised value, an insurance settlement, or an ICBC decision. Where no public decision threshold exists, the tool shows a neutral ratio or comparison instead of claiming to predict what ICBC will decide.
Pre-license independence
Car Appraisal BC is currently an independent information resource and tool library. Appraisal services are planned only after licensing and operating details are complete. We do not present the editorial team as a licensed appraiser, and we are not affiliated with ICBC or the Government of British Columbia.
Tool privacy
Calculations run in the visitor's browser. The transaction worksheet does not send names, VINs, odometer readings, prices, or other entered vehicle details to us. We record only anonymous product events such as whether a tool was completed, printed, or shared, plus a coarse result category. We do not use these events to identify or profile an individual.
Review and corrections
We re-check regulated content when an official source changes and before publishing a material tool update. Readers can report a possible error at hello@carappraisalbc.com. Confirmed errors are corrected promptly, and the reviewed date is advanced only after the affected facts and calculation logic have been checked.
